The Signal — Newsletter Terms
Terms for The Signal: free and paid membership, 7-day trial, recurring billing, cancellation, withdrawal and complaints.
Effective date: 31 October 2026. These terms apply to new subscriptions to The Signal. They do not change the terms of an earlier order for a different product.
1. Supplier and contact
The Signal is supplied by Enyuka Studio Mateusz Kozak, operating under the Matt Kozak brand. Polish tax identification number (NIP): 6472465040. Address for correspondence and service: Czerniowiecka 9/3, 02-705 Warszawa, Poland. Telephone: +48 533 650 926. Website: mkozak.pl.
For newsletter support, cancellation, withdrawal, refunds and complaints, email [email protected] or write to the postal address above. Please do not send card details or passwords.
2. What The Signal includes
The Signal is an English-language editorial newsletter about AI, robotics, energy and IoT, with commentary by Matt Kozak.
- Free membership: occasional selected public editions, approximately one in four editions. This is an approximate share of editions, not a fixed publication schedule.
- Paid membership: every edition of The Signal and access to the full newsletter archive while paid access remains active, including during an applicable free trial.
Editions are published when there is something worth your attention. There is no promise of daily delivery, a fixed number of editions, a monthly Q&A, individual advice or consulting. Any additional benefit must be expressly included in the offer before you order. A currently empty archive is not a promise that past editions already exist.
Newsletter content is general editorial information. Fractional CTO advisory and AI training are separate services agreed individually. The AI-Assisted Development Kit is not currently offered for sale and is not included in a newsletter subscription.
3. Signing up, access and requirements
You need a working email address, an internet connection, a browser that can access this website and Ghost membership Portal, and software that can display ordinary emails. You must be able to receive confirmation and sign-in links at your account address. Subscriptions are intended for adults able to enter the agreement.
For free membership, submit the signup form and complete the email confirmation steps. Paid signup requires completion of the checkout shown for your chosen plan. A subscription begins when the signup or order is successfully confirmed; submitting an incomplete form does not complete an order. An applicable trial starts on the confirmed trial start date. Access and billing details are shown in your account and order confirmation.
Emails begin with the next edition published after confirmation. Receiving sign-in or account messages does not mean that an editorial edition has been published. Delivery can be affected by spam filters, mailbox limits or an incorrect address; contact support if you cannot access the service.
4. Prices, trial and recurring billing
The standard paid plans are US$5 per month or US$50 per year, billed in advance for each selected period. The currency is US dollars. The selected plan, total payable amount and any applicable tax are shown before you confirm the order. Do not proceed if the displayed amount is not the amount you intend to pay.
Where offered, the first subscription includes a 7-day free trial. No subscription fee is due for the trial itself. Unless cancelled before the trial ends, the first paid monthly or annual period begins at the end of the trial and the selected recurring price is charged. The trial and first-charge dates are shown in the signup/billing process and account details. Cancel before that time to avoid the first charge.
After that, the subscription renews automatically for the same monthly or annual billing period at the agreed price unless cancelled before renewal. There is no additional minimum commitment beyond the applicable billing period. A change to a different recurring price or materially different paid offer requires express agreement for a future period; silence is not acceptance.
The supplier identified in section 1 supplies the newsletter. Stripe processes subscription payments. These newsletter terms do not describe the separate planned Stripe/Link merchant-of-record arrangement for the kit as applying to The Signal. Card data is entered through the payment provider; do not send it to newsletter support. Keep your checkout receipt and contact support for billing or invoice questions.
5. Cancelling renewal, unsubscribing and closing an account
Cancelling a paid subscription: use the subscription controls in your membership account, or email support from the subscription address. You may cancel at any time, without a cancellation fee. Cancel during the trial to prevent the first subscription charge. After a paid period has started, ordinary cancellation stops the next renewal; paid access continues until the end of the current period. Ordinary cancellation does not itself refund the current period, except under section 6 or mandatory law.
Unsubscribing from emails: use the unsubscribe link in an edition or your account email preferences. This stops editorial emails; it does not cancel paid renewal charges. Necessary account, payment, security and complaint messages may still be sent to administer the agreement. Contact support if a preference change does not work.
Closing an account: contact support. If you have a paid subscription, state explicitly whether you also want to cancel renewal, withdraw or request a refund. Data deletion is handled under the Privacy Policy; some legally required records may have to be retained.
6. Withdrawal and initial-subscription refund
Consumers can withdraw from a distance subscription within 14 days of concluding the initial agreement. If the agreement begins with a free trial, that initial period starts with the agreement, not with the later renewal charge. We do not require you to waive withdrawal rights merely to read an edition or use the archive.
In addition, we honour a request from any initial subscriber to cancel and receive a full refund of any initial subscription payment made under that agreement if the request is sent within those first 14 days. The 7-day trial and this 14-day period overlap; they are not consecutive periods. This additional initial-subscription policy does not restart at each renewal and does not restrict any greater right under applicable law.
Send a clear withdrawal or refund request to [email protected], or by post to the address in section 1. State that you want to withdraw, give the subscription email and, if available, the date or order reference. No reason is required. The following optional form may be used:
To Enyuka Studio Mateusz Kozak, Czerniowiecka 9/3, 02-705 Warszawa, Poland, [email protected]: I give notice that I withdraw from my subscription to The Signal concluded on [date]. Name: [name]. Address: [address]. Subscription email: [email]. Date: [date]. Signature only if sent on paper.
We will acknowledge the request by email and refund eligible payments without undue delay, no later than 14 days after receiving the withdrawal, using the original payment method unless another method is expressly agreed without additional cost. Access ends when the withdrawn subscription is closed. Cancelling renewal or clicking an email unsubscribe link is not by itself a withdrawal or refund request. Rights concerning non-conforming or undelivered services remain available independently of this initial period.
7. Problems, complaints and discontinuation
Contact support by email or post with a description of the problem, the subscription email and the remedy you seek. An order reference helps, but is not the only acceptable evidence. We respond to consumer complaints within 14 days of receipt.
We are responsible for providing the agreed service in conformity with the contract. Applicable rights may include delivery or restoration of conformity, an appropriate price reduction, termination and reimbursement under the conditions set by law. Contacting support does not waive those rights. Spam filtering or an external outage does not exclude responsibility required by mandatory law.
We will notify affected paid subscribers of a material interruption or permanent closure. If The Signal permanently ends before a prepaid period expires, we will refund its unused part; this does not limit a larger refund or other remedy required by law.
8. Use of content
A standard subscription is for one named individual, including where an employer pays. You may retain received editions for personal reference, share public links and use short attributed quotations within applicable law. Do not redistribute complete paid editions, share account access or sell subscriber content. Contact support for a team arrangement. Rights in linked sources remain with their owners.
9. Personal data, changes and disputes
The Privacy Policy explains membership, delivery, billing and support data. Signing up requests The Signal; it does not subscribe you to unrelated marketing or third-party lists.
A dated version of these terms applies to your agreement. Later revisions do not retrospectively remove rights for a paid period. We will notify affected members of material changes before they apply. If a different offer is not agreed, the existing agreement continues on its agreed terms or ends with the notice and remedies required by law.
Polish law applies without depriving consumers of mandatory protections of the law of their habitual residence. Competent courts remain available. Information on Polish consumer assistance and out-of-court procedures is available from UOKiK. Participation in a particular voluntary dispute-resolution procedure will be stated when a dispute arises, unless required by law. Nothing here limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable protections for sole traders.
